1. Nicola Petrone, a mechanical engineer and professor at the University of Padova in Italy, is engineering a safer snow jump. By properly designing the take-off area and landing slope, skiers and snowboards can reduce injuries in the terrain parks often caused by excessive fall heights.
2. Structural engineer firm, Fast + Epp, have contributed to the world's tallest wooden building (18 stories) which was built on the UBC campus in B.C.
1. HUDIFY | A Transparent GPS That Keeps Your Eyes On The Road - A Toronto company is seeking funding for its head's up display (HUD) GPS that it hopes to retail under $50. Connect it with your phone to get directions, warn you of speeding and identify red light intersections.
2. Chronos 1.4 High-Speed Camera - David Kronstein, an electronics engineer from Vancouver, has developed an affordable high-speed camera. Capable of capturing 1,500 frames per second, you'll finally be able to see how fast moving things work.
3. ZapBox: "Mixed Reality" - Zappar, a UK company, has developed a headset that allows you to enjoy a round of mini golf, paint in 3D or visit Mars. Using similar technology as Pokemon Go, this headset can project all sorts of stuff in your local environment.
